10 reasons why you need to go on a retreat

10 reasons why you need to go on a retreat

There’s one thing I notice every time I run a retreat - it’s amazing how many of my clients flinch at the idea of spending 4 or 5 days away. Away from their homes. Away from their families. And *gasp* away from their businesses. It freaks the hell out of people. I actually refused to run retreats for years… and it’s one of the few regrets I have. Especially now that I know the true transformations my clients can make after dipping their toes into “time out” for grown-ups. I should have started hosting these bad boys a long time ago. But let me just say… now is NOT the time for everyone to go on a retreat. Say what? Yes, you heard that correctly. If you are someone who is not prepared to unplug for a few days… If you are someone who doesn’t appreciate that professional growth is inextricably linked to personal development… If you don’t believe in miracles… My retreats are not for you. Choosing whether to make that trip or not can feel huge, particularly if you’ve never really taken a big chunk of time away from your “real life” in order to focus on personal and professional development. Even if we’ve worked together before, and you’ve already had some sort of life-changing...

How a 4 Day Retreat to New York created a 7 figure business

How a 4 Day Retreat to New York created a 7 figure business

When one of the mentors I’m working with told me she was hosting a mastermind day in New York recently, I knew I had to be there. I wasn’t going for the content, as we have been working with each other for close to a year, so I wasn’t expecting to hear ‘the magic formula for X, Y or Z’. That’s just not the way we operate. However, as someone who is committed to accelerating the growth of my business this year, my goal before arriving was to double my impact and my income in 2018, taking me to a cool £500K. I needed to get on the plane. Why? Because I know that rather than DOING more in your business, which many people will tell you is a prerequisite for growth, I know that true, long-lasting expansion is about BEING more. And understanding who I need to be to double my impact and my income in just 12 months definitely involves putting myself in environments where: I get to hang out with mentors who are doing the things I desire to do, hosting retreats and mastermind days where people fly in from across the world to be present.  TICK.  1. We can only notice and/or experience things that we’re capable of doing or being ourselves. It’s one thing to look at a Facebook status and say,...

4 reasons you should care about the closure of one of the UK’s biggest toy stores

I had totally planned to write something different for you this week, but my plans took a turn after being alerted to one of the UK’s biggest toys stores going into administration. Because I’m obsessed with all things biz of course one of the first questions I asked myself was, Yes… but why? What went wrong? And as I had a dig around, to see what had been going on, it soon became super clear that the lessons were not just for biz geeks or product based businesses, they are for you too. You win some and you learn some and here’s what we can learn from Toys R Us. 1 Visibility is Everything In this increasingly competitive marketplace, where people are not just competing for your hard earned cash, but for your time and attention too, the key to staying relevant and front of mind is to be seen. Toys R Us were mainly situated in out of town locations, with great off street parking. Whilst this worked like a treat in the seventies, when people would spend time and energy to make the whole trip an ‘experience’, in this day and age, with Amazon and regular supermarkets, out of sight is often out of mind. Learn their Lesson 1 Get honest with yourself: are you expecting people to come to...
