2016’s Biggest Lessons

2016’s Biggest Lessons

It’s funny, as I went to see some very good friends before Christmas (people that I haven’t seen in a while), I expected it to be super fun catching up on what had been happening and talking about future plans. But there wasn’t any of that. I recognised a very familiar theme when asking all of my pals what they had planned and whether they were looking forward to the year ahead – there was a distinct sense of ‘nothingness’ about their responses. Honestly? It was a bit depressing. At first, I wondered whether it was a self-employed thing... but then decided it couldn’t be, as one of my friends does work for himself and he wasn’t any more enthusiastic than the others. Then it dawned on me that they are just not in on the secret. They don’t know that we either unconsciously create or react. Or consciously create and lead. We get to choose the exact results we want to create. While we talk about it all the time, don’t be fooled into thinking that this is normal. It isn’t. And standing there at this Christmas party it was all too obvious. My outwardly successful friends, with houses, cars and kids actually run the risk of sleepwalking through the next 365 days of their lives. FUCK...

The Best Christmas Present!

The Best Christmas Present!

Merry Christmas!!!! I am wishing you a fantastically wonderful time with your loved ones and families today. In case you are wondering, I got super organised and wrote this a couple of weeks ahead on one of my content creation days. Tara my old VA if she’s reading this, will literally be peeing her pants. But this is the new me you see. I’m doing the things I need to do to allow me to operate from the bigger vision I have for myself and being more organised is a major part of that. As someone who has a job that requires me to be in front of my laptop for a lot of my time (and always checking my phone when I’m not), I’ve been aware for a long time that often I lack presence when it comes to my family. Being aware of this doesn’t make it easier to change the ingrained habits that I have built up around...

Moving through Resistance with Vulnerability

Moving through Resistance with Vulnerability

As service based professionals we deal with people in real life, as opposed to being able to hide behind a computer screen; unable to press the automation button, we have to sell ourselves and show ourselves. (View the vlog here!) This for many people is one of the hardest things we have to do. Many times during our lives we may have been told / conditioned to believe that we are not quite good enough, we need to temper our behaviour, quieten our voice. The way this plays out in our businesses is that we play small when it comes to sharing ourselves with the world, thereby diluting our message. We begin to measure ourselves by how much we fit in, how similar we look and sound to the people who are making it, emulating them in order to be liked. The problem with that is the voice we were born with, the light inside of us, doesn’t ever go away. Sometimes it shouts really fucking loudly and other times it whimpers in the corner, gently but persistently letting us know that we were made for more, we are not being true to our calling. Essentially saying ‘I won’t let you forget about me’. We pretend we can’t hear it, we pretend we don’t know what to do, what to say, and we try to block...
